A 6-week course for beginners in Hand-building

This beginner friendly course is the perfect way to explore hand-built ceramics in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Over 6 weeks, you'll be introduced to all the fundamental techniques of hand-building with clay.

Each week, we'll focus on a new method, allowing you to build confidence and skill as you go.

By the end of the course, you'll not only have a collection of your own handmade pieces, but also a strong understanding of the techniques behind them.

What you'll learn​

Week 1 and 2: Pinch Pots, Coil Building and Slips

Week 3 and 4: Slab Building and Surface Patterns

Week 5:  Moulds and Formers

Week 6: Cutters and Freehand Sculpture

After the first course, you can choose to continue for a further 6 weeks where you will learn the techniques and practices of finishing your creations.

Week1: Underglazing and Screen-printing

Week 2: Oxides and Glazing

Week 3-6: Advanced Hand-building Techniques e.g working with different clays/materials, coloured clays, complex joining...

All materials included, £5 per pot on collection for firing.
